Respritory Track Flashcards
What is the respiratory track?
1.nasal cavaties
2.pharynx
3.Larynx
4.trachea - rings of cartilage to keep open
5.bronchis - same as trachea
6.bronchioles - small to be flexible
7.Alvioli
Explain the Aveoli
-Alveoli are surrounded by capillaries bed where the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide occurs
-the arrangement is help by elastic connective tissues
-surface area is size of tennis court(if you have more alveoli then you get more oxygen)
-alveolar epithelium lines it
Explain bronchiole
-Each bronchiole ends in a grape like cluster of sacs called alveoli where gas exchange occurs
-surrounded by muscle tissue of when the muscle contracts that is an asthma attack
Where does the air from the bronchi enter?
Air from the bronchi enters into the lungs and bronchi trees
-right lung divided into three lobes
-left lung divided into two lobes(because the heart is in the way)
Where does the pharynx connect?
Connects to oral cavity to nasal cavity your ‘voice box’ air passes over
Trachea and esophagus
-air needs to go down the trachea
-food and drinks need to go down the esophagus
-the epiglottis ensures things go down the right tube
Where is the mucus lining and what does it do?
Pharynx, larynx, treachea
Things other than oxygen gets caught in the mucus lining and this is why you cough
