Response Time Flashcards
1
Q
8/15 marker
A
- Reaction time it’s a total time it takes from onset of stimuli to start of movement
- Movement time it’s time it takes to complete the task after info processing has taken place
- Mov+ Reaction creates response time which is total time it takes from onset of stimuli to completing the task.
- Can be affected by delay in info ( psychological refractory period) so only one stimuli can be processed at time which creates single channel hypothesis.
- More choices and info to process slower reaction which introduces choice reaction where there’s more than 1 stimuli and response.
AO2
- Relation to tennis, response will be down to single channel hyp. / choice bc there is only one/ more than one info and response to be processed. Hick’s law states that the more stimulus are present the longer the response time. In relation to tennis, player will suffer delay due to lots of stimuli and info faced in competitive env.
A03
- Make sure practiced in varied conditions——> improve familiarisation with diff stimuli and gain experience
- Improve fitness level ——-> improved speed and power at which player moves and hits the ball
- Improve selective attention attention ——> block irrelevant / bright colours to stimuli response
- improve anticipation—-> temporal anticipation ( predict when stimuli will happen) and spatial anticipation ( predicting what will happen)—- reaction time quicker and decrease no of choices
- Experience——> increased kinaesthesia, enable to form quicker responses mov will be adapted
