What is the pharynx also known as?
The throat
What is the Trachea also known as?
The windpipes
Where does the pharynx (throat) start?
The pharynx starts from the nasal cavity to the end of the trachea and oesophagus
Where is the air going?
- The air travels through the pharynx before diverting into the trachea by the epiglottis.
- Then it goes down past the larynx which cointans the vocal cords.
What is the larynx?
Vocal Chords
What is at the base of the Trachea (Windpipe)?
At the base it splits into 2 bronchi which take the air into the lungs
What is the role of bronchi?
Is a tree like cartilage structure that carries air to the lungs.
What is on the end of each bronchi? And what surrounds those things on the end of bronchi?
Alveoli. Surrounded by blood capillaries.
What is inspiration and expiration?
Inspiration is the process of air going into lungs, and expiration is breathing out.
