What are the parts of the digestive system?
Mouth, teeth, oesophagus, stomach, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, small and large intestine, rectum and anus.
What does the rectum and anus do?
They hold and release waste
What is the main role of the large intestine?
To absorb water
What does the small intestine do?
It breaks down food, absorbs nutrients and gets rid of unnecessary things and sends that to the large intestine.
What does the pancreas do?
It creates juices can pancreatic enzymes to break food down?
What does the gall bladder and liver do?
They store and release bile, bile helps digest fats.
What does the stomach do?
It is an organ with strong muscular walls, it holds the food and mixes it with acid and enzymes that break it down to a paste.
What does the oesphagus do?
It is a hollow muscular tube that carries food to the stomach.
What does the mouth teeth do?
It breaks food down with canines and molars so it can pass through the oesophagus.
