A

The diaphragm will contract and move downwards creating an increases in the size of the thoracic cavity, so that air can be forced in.

A

The diaphragm returns to the dome shape, making the thoracic cavity smaller. This results in an increase in air pressure within the lungs allowing air to be exhaled.
