Cardiac Cycle Flashcards
What is Blood pressure
Systolic Pressure- when the heart contracts
Diastolic Pressure- when the heart relaxes
What is the Sinoatrial node
SAN is a small mass of specialised cardiac muscle found in the wall of the right atrium. It sends out an electrical signal to the atrium to contract and pump blood into the ventricles
What is the Atrioventricular node
AVN is positioned in the septum and it sends an impulse to the ventricle that makes muscle contract causing blood to pump out.
What is the Bundle of His
Specialist heart muscle cells responsible for transporting the electrical impulses from AVN, and found in the walls of the ventricles and septum.
What are the Purkinje fibres
They are found at the end of the bundle of his and they allow the ventricles to contract at regular intervals.
