what is the role of vocal resonance
if you find an area of dullness on percussion you can use vocal resonance to find out whether this is caused by a solid e.g. fibrosis or consolidation(increased resonance) or collapse and effusion (dull)
how do you perform tactile vocal fremitus
one hand over dull area and one over normal area on other side
say 99 and feel
how do you do vocal resonance
auscultate over an area of dullness and say 99. compare to other side
how do you ausculate
take deeper breaths through the mouth
listen for one cycle at each position
dont forget axillae
