COPD exacerbation:
symptoms?
tx?
see increased dyspnea, increased cough, or increased sputum
tx: 1)supplemental O2 (noninvasive + pressure or intubate) (goal 88-92%)
2) systemic steroids (NOT inhaled!)
3) inhaled bronchodilators (albuterol, ipratropium)
4) antibiotics if more than 1 symptom above present
Lung CA paraneoplastic syndromes (3)
Small cell
1) Lambert-Eaton
2) SIADH
Squamous cell
3) PTHr
Pulmonary Fibrosis is a side effect of this drug
Amiodarone
(class III antiarrhythmic)
can cause a lot of other lung probs
other AE of amiodarone :
1) blue-grey skin discoloration
2) thyroid dysfunction
3) hepatotoxicity
4) corneal deposits
5) nonpitting pedal edema
assessing a PE
need a CONTRAST CT or pulm angiogram
never noncon CT
EKG changes for PE
