Resp Exam - General Inspection
A
- Does patient look unwell or in pain
- Are they any signs of respiratory distress
- Pursed lip breathing or tripod position
- Is there supplemental O2 or inhaler
- Body habitus
- Is the patient coughing
- are there any sputum specimen pots

A
- Clubbing
- Peripheral cyanosis
- Tar staining
- Muscle wasting and weakness
- Wrist Tenderness
- Asterixis
- Vital signs

A
- Pallor of conjutivae
- Horners syndrome: Partial ptosis, anhidrosis, miosis
- Nasal Polyps, Septal deviation, engorged turbinates
- Central Cyanosis
- Reddening of the pharynx
- Tonsils (enlarged ect)

A
- Lymph nodes
- Deviated trachea
- Trachel tug

Resp Exam Chest Inspection
A
- Look laterally as well as posterior and anterior
- Barrel chest, kyphosis, scoliosis, pectins excavator, pectin carinatum
- Scars
- Erythema
- Chest Wall movement

Resp Exam - Palpation
A
- Chest expansion, should be less than 5cm, make sure thumbs aren’t touching the chest

Resp exam- Percussion and auculatation
A
Need to percussion symmetrically to compare
Percussion superclavicular, 3rd ish ICS, 6th rib and auxiliary
Percussion sides (2 on left 3 on right) and on back
Auscultation in same spots, berthing in and out for both, and then saying 99 for vocal resonance

A
JVP, apex beat, ausculatate heart valves
Legs pereira odema, unilateral leg swelling, erythema, ad calf tenderness
