Things to look for
“At this point i would normally take the patients vital signs, however, in the interest of time i will not unless you would like me to”
“Could i get you to put your arms out straight and extend your hand back with your fingers spread apart”
-Bruising: ecchymoses (normal) and Petechiae (pin head sized bruises)
-muscle wasting or cachexia
-Observe for scratch marks
-spider naevi
-Acanthosis nigricans
-Hepatic flap, jerking of wrists after arms being out for 15-30s
Ecchymoses
Bruises

Pin head sized bruises
Scratch marks
Sign of itchiness Pruritus
Spider Naevi
Small central arterials surrounded by spider leg like capillaries
Acanthosis nigricans
Darkening discolouration in folds and creases
Hepatic flaps
Jerking of the wrists after arms have been out for 15-30s, suggests liver disease
