Resisted exercise I vocab Flashcards
Equation for muscle performance?
FxD=P Force x distance=performance
Key elements of muscle performance?(3)
Str, power, endurance
Definition resistance exercise?
Any form of active exercise in which dynamic or static mm contraction is resisted by outside force.
Strength?
Single maximum effort. (1 lift)
Equation for power?
(FxD)/T (Force x Distance) / Time
Overload principal?
A load that exceeds the metabolic capacity of the muscle must be applied to gain strength. You must challenge the muscle.
How does endurance training change muscles at the chemical level?
It increases their oxidaitive and metabolic capacities.
How is the overload principle applied to str training?
The intensity(amount of weight) is incrementally and progressively increased
How is the overload principle applied to endurance training?
Increasing the amount of time for mm contractions or amount of reps
SAID principle?
Specific Adaption To Imposed Demands
Specificity training aims to?
Mimic function ie. training for endurance or str based on the functioal activity with regard to posture and joint position etc/
Reversibility?
Muscles will begin to lose str or endurance within 1-2 weeks if the actions are not included in functional activities.
Detraining?
MM performance begins to deteriorate within 1-2 weeks if maintenance is not employed.
