R/E II MM Fx and adaptation Flashcards
1
Q
How does mm architexture (fiber type/arrangement) affect force?
A
Short, pinnate/multi-pinnate muscles produce high force. ie quads, gastrocs, delts, biceps
2
Q
How does fiber type distribution (types I, IIA, and IIB) affect force?
A
Type I= low force Type high resist to fatigue
Type IIA and IIB= Rapid high force production and low resistance to fatigue
3
Q
Type I mm fibers are?
A
Tonic, slow-twitch
4
Q
Type IIA & IIB are?
A
Phasic, fast-twitch
5
Q
Types of contractions force output > to <
A
Eccentric, isometric, concentric
6
Q
Types of contractions speed effects tension?
Concentric
Eccentric
A
Concentric > speed=< in tensio
Eccentric > speed=> in tensio
