Resistance in AC Circuits Flashcards

1
Q

What steps should be taken to determine the RMS value of current in this simple series circuit?

A

After finding Total Resistance (Rt)

1) Find Peak Voltage: Voltage/2
2) Calculate the RMS for the voltage: Peak Voltage x .707 = Vrms
3) Calculate current: Vrms/Rt

Q

In essence, what’s Ohm’s Law for AC circuits?

A

Current Total

_ x Resistance Total_

(Voltage ÷ 2) x .707

              **?**

_x Resistance Total _ = (Voltage ÷ 2) x .707 / Resistance Total

(Voltage ÷ 2) x .707

Current Total

_ x ** ?** _ = (Voltage ÷ 2) x .707 / Current Total

(Voltage ÷ 2) x .707
