Required Practical: Reflection And Refraction Flashcards
Equipment
Ray box
Lens
Slit
Paper with a straight line on it
Step 1
Take a3 paper and draw straight line down centre
Step 2
Use protractor to draw right angles = normal
Step 3
Place glass block against the first line so normal is near centre of the block
Step 4
Turn off all lights
Draw outlines around the box
Step 5
Turn on ray box so light hits the block at the normal
= incident ray casting angle of incidence
Stage 6
See line leaving the block
= transmitted ray
Mark all of these lines, reflected, transmitted, incidence
Step 7
Then on lights
Remove the glass block
Draw in these reflected rays from our markings
And draw the path of these rays
Step 8
Measure angle of incidence and reflection
Measure angle of refraction = angle between normal and refracted ray
Stage 9
Do everything against with different material
Results
Angle of incidence and reflection are the same no matter material
Bacause ni matter the material they are the same
But they are different for different materials
