Tell me about them testes
Gonads (external sex organs) that produce gametes (sex cells) and hormones
Sertoli produces the sperm cells
Leydig cells produce testosterone
What’s the epididymis?
The storage space for sperm, a couled tube attached to the back of the testes
Tell me about the scrotum
Has to be cooler than core body temp for sperm production
Cremaster Muscle - raises and lowers in response to temperature changes
Dartos muscle wrinkles the skin
Pampiniform plexus - network of veins that cools the arterial blood
spermatic cord - bundle of nerves and blood vessels that supply the testes with blood
The Seminal Vesicles, tho?
Supply fructose and 60-70% of semen volume, remaining 30% of volume is from the prostate
What produces pre-ejaculate?
The bulbourethral glans
What are the parts of the penis?
Glans penis - the head (distal end of penis)
Prepuce (foreskin) protects and lubricates the penis

corpora cavernosa - columns (plural) or erectile tissue on dorsal penis
corpus sponginosum - column of erectile tissue around the urethra
Ovaries, huh?

Oocytes are the gamete (egg)
Theca cells produce androgens
Granulosa cells convert the androgens to estrogen
What do you call those little projections that sweep oocytes into the uterine tube?

Where is the normal site for fertilization?
The uterine tube, not the utuerus
When do mammary glands pop off?
3rd trimester of pregnancy, also active in nursing females
What’s the difference between a nipple and an areola?
Nipple is a raised region that allows milk to leave the body
Areola is a pigmented region that makes the nipple more visible to infants
