Delayed onset of puberty when cyclical activity has not occurred within 24mths.

What are the signs of pseudopregnancy?
Develop 6-12 weeks after oestrus.
May last for months.
Nest making.
Adoption of objects.
Mammary development - lactation.
Mastitis may develop.
What is Agenesis?
Absence of ovarian development - usually affect only one side and may affect fertility.
What does intersex/hermaphrodite mean?
When ovarian and testicular tissue are both seen.
What is the difference between aplasia and Agenesis?
Agenesis = failure of development
Aplasia = abnormal development.
What is vaginitis?
Inflammation of the vagina.
Signs of pyometra (cystic endometrial hyperplasia)?
Middle age to older bitches
Develop within few weeks of oestrus
PU/PD
Lethargic
Anorexia
Vomiting
What is mastitis?
Blocked milk ducts and bacterial infection.
What are the signs of mastitis?
Hot swollen mammary glands
Lethargic
Anorexia
Pain
What is anorchia?
Absence of the testes.
What is orchitis?
Inflammation of the testes - following trauma or bacterial infection.
What is cryptorchidism?
When testicles fail to descend from the abdomen.
What are the three types of testicular tumours?
Sertoli cell tumour
Interstitial cell tumour
Leydig cell tumour
What are some disease of the accessory glands?
Prostatic hyperplasia
Bacterial prostatitis
Prostatic cysts
Prostatic tumours
What is phimosis?
The inability to extrude the penis due to abnormally small preputial orifice.
What is paraphimosis?
Failure to retract the penis into the prepuce.
What is priapism?
Persistent enlargement of the penis in the absence of sexual excitement.
