what is sexual reproduction?
A
- involves the fusion of male and female gametes.
- because there are 2 parents, the offspring contain a mixture of their parents genes.

what is asexual reproduction?
A
- involves only one parent.
- the offspring have identical genes to the parent so there’s no variation.

what happens at fertilisation?
A
a male gamete fuses with a female gamete to form a ZYGOTE (fertilised egg). the zygote ends up with a full set of chromosomes and undergoes cell division to develop into an embryo.
