Reproduction Flashcards
What are the gametes in flowering plants?
Male- pollen found on the anther grains
Female- ovules in the ovary
What are the gametes in humans?
Male- sperm in the testies
Female- egg in the ovaries
Describe the process of reproduction in animals
During intercourse sperm travels through the speed duct, into the urethra and released out the penis
Egg realised from ovaries into the oviduct
Sperm cells swim up the vagina through to the uterus where the nucleus of each gamete fuses
The eggs implants into the walls of the uterus where by meiosis, a new organism is formed
What is formed when the nuclei of two gamete fuse?
Haploid gametes fuse to form a diploid zygote
Describe the process of flowering plants reproduction
Pollen grain lands on the stigma
A pollen tube goes up the stigma from the ovary
Pollen grain then travels down the pollen tube where the nuclei fuse together
A fruit forms, petals fall off, seeds are dispersed for the cycle to happen again
