What do contraceptives do for a woman?
Prevent ovulation and release progesterone and some estrogen
What happens in IVF?
- FSH is administered
- Collect ova
- Collect sperm sample
- Ova and sperm combine in Petri dish in lab
- Women is administered progesterone to thicken and maintain endometrium
- Blastocytes are inserted into uterus for implantation
Why do contraceptives release progesterone?
Less LH is released

Site of exchange between mom and baby and secretes hormones

Transports nutrients and waste

Shock absorption and sterile environment
