What are complications of prostate cancer?
Sclerotic lesions at L3 vertebral body
Lung, breast, thyroid, renal, prostate often metastasise
What is the medical management of BPH?
Tamsulosin (alpha-blocker), 5alpha reductase inhibitor (Finasteride)
What is the management for renal cancer?
T1: partial nephrectomy
T2: radical nephrectomy
NOT chemo or radiotherapy
How does renal stones present?
Loin -> groin pain, haematuria, N&V, if fever = urgent decompression
How does renal cell carcinoma cause left-sided varicoceles?
Compression of gonadal veins
Causes ache, heavy, bag of worms
What is polycystic kidney disease associated with?
Subarachnoid haemorrhage from ruptured berry aneurysm
What is the treatment for prostate cancer with mets?
Radiotherapy, GnRH antagonist (Degarelix) - decreases testosterone
