Wisdom - being wise having experience and knowledge
Understanding - helps us to understand gods teachings
Right judgement - helps us to make sensible decisions especially in difficult times
Courage - The strength to do what is a right even though it may be hard
Knowledge- Seeing our life is God sees it seeing the purpose of our lives
Reverence - loving God is our father and our neighbours as brothers and sisters
Wonder and awe - Being an awe of God loving God with your words and actions
Pentecost
Pentecost celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit and occurs 50 days after Easter Sunday
What is confirmation
Confirmation is a sacrament of initiation and which we are sealed and strengthened with the gifts of the Holy Spirit
Symbols of the Holy Spirit with brief explanation
Fire - The fire that appeared on Pentecost was similar to the fire in the burning bush on mount Sinai from which God spoke to Moses. Fire calls attention to the strength and force of the Holy Spirit.
Wind - The wind that appeared on Pentecost was the innocent of the wind that blew over the waters at the beginning of the creation. The wind also calls attention to the Holy Spirit breathing life into the church.
Oil - anointing with chrism oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit uniting us with Jesus the Messiah the anointed one.
Water - water represents the cleansing and life-giving action of the Holy Spirit at baptism.
