What are source pumpers?
A
Pumpers that take water from a hydrant or a static source and pumps it under pressure to the next apparatus in the relay pumping operation. These pumpers should have the largest capacity.

What is a relay pumper?
A
Pump or pumps connected in the relay that receive water from the source pump or another relay pump. This pump raises the pressure in the relay system and supply the next apparatus. This pump may be of a smaller capacity.

A
A pumping apparatus located at the fire scene that receives water from a relay pumper or water source that is responsible for fire suppression.
