What is the volute?
A
A spiral, divergent chamber of a centrifugal pump in which the velocity energy given to water by the impeller blades is converted into pressure.

What is the difference between pumping in the parallel and series position?
A
When pumping in parallel (volume), two impellers take water from the source and delivers it to the discharge.
When pumping in series (pressure), all water from the intake manifold is directed into the eye of the first impeller.
