Fireground Hydrailic Calculations Flashcards
What are some benefits to using flow meters on the fireground?
Flow meters reduce the number of pressure calculations required of the driver/operator.
What is the difference between a manual and an electronic hydraulic calculator?
The manual version of the calculator consists of a slide or dial that can be moved to cover or reveal rates of flow, size of hose, and length of hose layout in order to come to a conclusion of a problem.
The electronic calculators are specifically programmed to allow you to input the variables of each hose layout, including length, diameter of hose, and elevation changes.
What is the condensed Q formula?
This formula may be used for operations in which friction loss can be determined for different diameters of hose.
