Reinforcement schedule Flashcards
Fixed-ratio schedule
Every nth is reinforced, number greater than 1
Variable-ratio schedule
Same as fixed but amount of times differs and is somewhere around the average of that fixed number.
Fixed-interval schedule
Fixed period of time must elapse, first response after x seconds is reinforced
Variable-interval schedule
Same as fixed though amount of time differs and is somewhere around average of that time.
Most tries
Ratio has highest response. Interval has low response rates. Variable schedule is difficult to extinguish.
Overjustification
Reinforcing behaviour that doesn’t need reinforcement, thus taking away joy and perceiving as work. Once re is taken away behavior that would’ve stayed now goes away
Observational learning
Learning by looking at others. Vicarious reinforcement, learning from consequences of others’ actions.
Latent learning
Through exploring, getting to know the maze and then finding fastest route when reward is added
Westermarck effect
Idea that early familiarity of growing up together results in lack of sexual attraction in later life.
Food eversion
Different from regular CC because of time delay, focus on smell/taste, hard to combine stimulus. More instinct
