Memory Flashcards
Implicit memory
Classical conditioning, skills and priming.
Classical conditioning phases to test memory
Learning phase (commercial)
Retention phase (time)
Testing phase (seeing if they were influenced by add)
Sensory memory
Iconic memory, every sense has corresponding copy like memory. Really short. (seeing circle in laser light)
Echoic memory
Part of sensory memory, bit longer than iconic
Short term/working memory
Attention selects what gets in this part. You fail to encode information that does not receive attention (inattentional blindness)
Change blindness
Masked change erases iconic memory. Missing change bc of that.
Phonological loop
In working memory, aid in remembering, speech based. Can store internal speech. If you don’t repeat it it disappears. Memory span tests
Central executive
Boss of what you think, update working memory, switch between tasks, inhibit unwanted response/info. Executive functions.
Long term memory
Encoding and retrieval of knowledge. Elaborate, organise, retrieve.
