Receptor response Flashcards
endogenous signaling molecules
hormones
neurotransmitters
cytokines
substances that bind to the ionchannel
GABA or glutamate
substances that bind tot the G-protein coupled receptors
(nor)adrenalin
substances that bind to the kinase receptors
insulin and growth factors
substances that bind tot the nuclear receptors
steriods
competitive antagonists
will compete with the agonist, but after a high concentration of the agonist it can overcompete the antagonist.
non-competitive antagonists
bind to the receptor and the nthe receptor is not available anymore for agonists
allosteric binding
different binding site to the main binding site wehere drugs can bind. they can induce different conformations or prevent the active conformaton to take place. It can not be competed away by the agonist.
