rates of reaction - catalysts Flashcards

1
Q

what do catalysts do?

A

spread up rate of reaction but are not used up during the reaction so it is reusable

3
Q

how do catalysts increase rate of reaction?

A

they provide a different pathway for reaction that has lower activation energy

Q

If a catalyst is present, what does this do for the particles?

A

they require less energy to overcome the activation barrier so more particles will have successful collins per second meaning rate of reaction will increase
