Rate Response Flashcards
What type of accelerometer does MDT use?
A crystal mounted on a circuit board.
What is the activity threshold?
Determines the minimum amount of activity that will activate the sensor. The lower the threshold, the more sensitive the sensor becomes to movement.
What are the two zones used in the MDT’s rate response?
Dual zone: ADL (activities of daily living) and Exertion.
What is the ADL Rate?
The rate needed to support the patient during normal activities.
What is the ADL/Exertion response?
Determines the amount of time the patient will spend in the ADL/Exertion rate zone. 1-5, nominally 3. If the patient is spending too much or too little time in this zone, the device will adjust the slope accordingly.
Most patients’ ADL/Exertion response won’t be set below what number?
3
What amount of time corresponds to each rate response setting?
1- 8, 2 - 15, 3 - 30, 4 - 60, 5 - 100
What is a set point?
The non-programmable setting that determines the number of hits to the sensor required to activate rate response.
How many hits are needed to get in to ADL rate?
Lowest is 5, ideal is 12-15
How many hits are needed to get to the exertional rate?
Lowest is 15, ideal is >25
What should you do if the ADL set point is low?
Make the threshold more sensitive so that it sees more hits to the sensor.
What is rate profile optimization?
It makes slight changes to the ADL and exertion slopes and set points based on the patient’s activity level. It compares the sensor rate profile to the target rate profile and makes slight adjustments to make the two more similar.
