2. Using audible alarms for PASS devices and communicating via portable radio if possible.
3. Providing air support via RIC-Pak or SCBA.
4. Advising command of location to establish protection is provided with a hose line.
5. Size-up rescue needs and call for advanced extrication (e.g. Air bags, heavy hydraulics,
   etc. ) if needed.

Question 3

Prior to the establishment of dedicated RIC an Initial Rapid Intervention Crew (IRIC) shall be
established. The initial IRIC includes:

1. A Temporary two-person RIC team assigned to allow teams to enter an IDLH condition.
2. A priority of Command is to upgrade the IRIC to a dedicated RIC as soon as practically
   possible.

Standard Exceptions to the IRIC Requirement at Structure Fires:

1. When there is a life hazard where immediate action could prevent the loss of life.
2. When the fire is in an incipient stage that could be controlled by a portable fire extinguisher.
