SPEED LIMITS – EMERGENCY/NON-EMERGENCY

- Under normal conditions, all regulations pertinent to the operation of motor vehicles shall
apply for all Fire Rescue Department apparatus/vehicles. - During emergency response, the maximum apparatus speed shall be no more than 10
MPH over the posted speed limit - conditions permitting.

RIDING APPARATUS - EMERGENCY/NON-EMERGENCY TRAVEL
A
- Personal Protective Equipment shall be donned prior to mounting apparatus.
- The Company Officer shall confirm that all personnel are seated and secured.
- The driver shall not proceed until advised to do so by the Company Officer.

EXITING/ENTERING A FIRE STATION
A
- The Company Officer shall confirm that the overhead door is open.
- The driver shall not proceed until advised to do so by the Company Officer.
- The Company Officer shall avoid use of all electronic devices and shall act as a spotter
while the apparatus exits or enters the fire station. - In cases where the driver is the only person assigned to a vehicle, a visual check of the
overhead door shall be conducted prior to entering or exiting the station. - When parking inside the bay area of a station, ensure that the apparatus/vehicle is left in
the position of having its tires facing forward and that the truck is centered to facilitate a
clear avenue of egress when responding to the next call.
