Q
How many fuel pumps?
A
- 5 total
- 2 auxiliary, 2 mechanical, 1 heater
2
Q
Does the heater use a mechanical or electric fuel pump?
A
- electrical, we switch it ON and OFF
3
Q
Where does the heater pull fuel from?
A
- pulls fuel from the left tank at 0.5 gallons per hour
4
Q
What’s the purpose of cross feed?
A
- allows us to draw fuel from the other tank in case of engine failure or emergency
5
Q
What keeps the landing gear up?
A
- high hydraulic pressure
6
Q
What keeps the gear down?
A
- gravity, spring, down-lock J hooks
7
Q
How does the manual gear extension work?
A
- equalizes the pressure allowing gravity to pull down the gear
8
Q
Is our aircraft capable of full feathering?
A
- Yes, feather position above 950 RPM, uses oil pressure and aerodynamic twisting
9
Q
How do we unfeather the aircraft?
A
- unfeathering accumulator
- used for training purposes so we don’t break the starter
- stores oil under high pressure & a nitrogen charge pushes oil into prop hub for unfeathering
10
Q
What happens if we lose the nitrogen charge?
A
- review checklist AFM 3-19 & 3-20
- use the starter, make sure above 950 RPM
11
Q
What fuel pump is used in the prop system?
A
- mechanical fuel pump
- powered by the engine
