COMPLEX & HIGH PERFORMANCE A/C Flashcards
1
Q
What is a complex high performance aircraft?
A
- retractable landing gear, flaps, & controllable pitch propeller
- < 200 hp engine
- must receive ground & flight instruction from an authorized instructor
- receive an endorsement to certify proficiency
2
Q
What might be some risks or hazards associated with flying complex high performance aircraft?
A
- Two engines vs one (redundancy)
- Complex systems which are prone to failures
- Aerodynamics are different compared to SE a/c (asymmetrical thrust & yawing during OEI)
- Runway lengths T/O & LDG
- Density altitude (heavier a/c)
- Getting behind the aircraft (more steps & procedures)
