Q

Induction Air Box

A
  • manually operated two-way valve
  • allowing filtered induction air or unfiltered heated air into the engine fuel injection servo inlet
  • alternate air allows heated air in when induction icing occurs (bypasses air filter if blockage occurs)
  • DO NOT use during ground operations

Q

Four Strokes of the Engine

A
  1. Intake: Air/Fuel mixture being drawn in. Intake valve opens, exhaust valve is closed, piston moving downward in combustion chamber.
  2. Compression: Air/Fuel mixture is being compressed. Both valves are shut & piston is moving upward.
  3. Power: Spark plug ignites the air/fuel mixture. Explosion forces the piston downward.
  4. Exhaust: Exhaust valve opens & piston pushes out burned gases.

Q

Cowl Flaps

A
  • Each engine has a manually operated cowl flap
  • Change the amount of air flowing through engine cowling
  • This cools the engine
  • Three positions (open, intermediate, closed)
