Radiologic 1 - Measurements Flashcards
_____ arise from the direction of the central beam leaving the tube, penetrating the body part, and landing on the X ray plate.
Projections
____ arise from the “ view” of the plate after it has been exposed by the central beam.
Views
How do you find the metatarsus adductus angle? What is normal?
midfoot bisection WRT bisection of 2nd metatarsal; 10-15 degrees
How do you find the metatarsal parabola? What is its normal angle?
connect points from distal 1st to 2nd to 5th metatarsal heads; 140 degrees
How do you find the metatarsal declination angle? What is its normal angle?
bisection 1st metatarsal WRT WB surface; 23 degrees
This is the same as the talar declination angle, but you bisect talar head instead of 1st met
How do you find the Meary’s angle? What is its normal angle?
Bisection talar neck WRT bisection 1st metatarsal
Normal = aligned =0 +/- 5 degrees
This means the talar declination and the metatarsal declination should be the same, or within 5 degrees of each other
How do you find the Hallux Abductus Angle? What is normal?
Bisection 1st metatarsal shaft WRT bisection shaft proximal phalanx 1st toe. Normal = 0-15 degrees
How do you find the Hallux Abductus Interphalangeus Angle? What is normal?
Bisection shaft 1st proximal phalanx WRT bisection shaft distal phalanx 1st.
Normal = 0-10 degrees
How do you find Kite’s angle? What is normal?
AKA talocalcaneal angle
distal lateral 1/3 calcaneus line WRT talar neck bisection.
Normal = 20 - 40 degrees
