A

origonal setlers to the usa were called WASPS (white anglo saxon protistants)
they introduced the protistant church, use of democracy and the english language.
they domonated us society and didnt want to see it changed by new imigrants

imigrants with valuable skill sets or profesions were not met with the same prejudice - there were for example no limits on imigration from mexico as people were needed for cheap labour during the fruit harvest.
