What is racemic Epinephrine ?

A

It irritates the sympathetic nervous system (sympathomimetic)

A

Causes bronchodilation (stimulates beta2)
Reduces airway resistance
Inhibits histamine release (inflammatory response)

A

Adult- 5ml (1%) in 5mL of saline over 15 min

Pedi- under 4: 0.25 ml (2.25) in 3 mL over 15 min

Over 4: 0.5 mL (2.25) in 3 mL over 15 min
