Quality Flashcards
What is the best definition of project quality management?
Project quality management includes the processes for incorporating the organizations quality policy regarding planning, managing and controlling project and product quality requirements in order to meet stakeholder’s objectives. Project quality management also supports continuous process improvement activities as undertaken on behalf of the performing organization.
What is cost of quality (COQ)?
Cost of quality (COQ) includes all costs incurred over the life of the product by investment in preventing non-conformance to requirements, appraising the product or service for conformance to requirements, and failing to meet requirements (rework). Cost of quality is often the concern of program management, portfolio management, the PMO, or operations.
What is prevention?
Prevention: an intentional activity that ensures the future performance of the project work is aligned with the project management plan.
What is an inspection?
Inspection: examination of a work product to determine whether it confirms to documented standards
What is attribute sampling?
Attribute sampling: a process that determines whether or not the deliverable conforms to the specifications
What is variable sampling?
Variable sampling: process that measures a deliverable’s conformance to a specific degree
What are tolerances?
Tolerances: the specified range of acceptable results
What are control limits?
Control limits: identifies the boundaries of variation in a process
What is quality?
Quality: the degree to which a product fulfills the requirements
What is grade?
Grade: the item’s classification based on its technical characteristics
What is quality conformance?
Quality conformance: the degree that the product or service meets the established quality requirements
What is quality non-conformance?
Quality non-conformance: the degree that the product or service doesn’t meet the established quality requirements
What is cost of quality (COQ)?
Cost of quality (COQ) : the cost incurred in ensuring the quality of the project.
Many organizations wisely choose to invest in defect prevention.
Non-conformance requires a higher COQ since the product or service will need to be revisited or replaced.
What is benchmarking?
Benchmarking involves comparing actual or planned project practices or the project’s quality standards to those of comparable projects to identify best practices, generate ideas for improvement, and provide a basis for measuring performance. Benchmarked projects may exist within the performing organization or outside of it, or can be within the same application area or other application area.
What are the inputs to the plan quality management process?

Project management plan
Organizational process assets
