Give the position of this muscle
Internal oblique lies superficial to transverse abdominis, deep to external oblique and lateral to Rectus abdominis in the anterolateral abdominal wall
State the attachments of this muscle
Proximal attachments: arise from lateral two thirds of the inguinal ligament; the anterior two thirds of the iliac crest and the thoracolumbar aponeurosis.
Distal Attachment: Internal surfaces of ribs 9-12 , Pubic crest and Pectin pubis, Linea Alba
List the actions of internal oblique muscle if the shoulders are fixed
Flexes the Trunk – bilateral action
Ipsilateral Lateral flexion of the Trunk – unilateral action
Rotates the Trunk toward same side/pelvis to the opposite side –unilateral action
list the specific actions of this muscle on the plevis
