Pyro Rules

A
  1. flares should be kept b/w -65 F - 160 F no more than 100 F
  2. pyro fires should be smothered with sand, dry earth, ashes, powdered talc, or similar material
  3. do not use solid streams of water, vaporizing liquid, foam, dry chemicals, or carbon-type extinguishers in an attempt to extinguish pyro fire.

Pyro Characteristics

  1. pyro burns at 4500 F
  2. red phosphorus can turn white phosphorus when it is combusted. white is highly toxic and can spontaneously ingnite
  3. if found post guard and keep all personnel away from the device and report the incident to local police or explosion ordnance disposal team.

Daily Inspection

A
  1. thermometer must always be zeroed after every inspection
  2. max temp is read by looking at the little steel index marker on the right hand which increases upwards, while the min temp is read on the left hand scale against the bottom edge of the little steel marker that increases downwards.
  3. aisles/clearances
    A. aisles shall be 18in wide
    B. front wall clearance of 2ft shall be maintained
    C. ceiling, sides and rear wall shall have a clearance of at least 6in
    D. ordnance is off the deck by at least 1in
    E. firebreaks-trees shall be removed from firebreaks. vegetation with 50ft of magazines shall be maintained at a height of no more than 18in
