21
Q

any pyrotechnic malfunction or incident shall be reported….

A

….Conventional Ordnance Discrepancy Report(CODR)

22
Q

(PYRO) when dealing with maintaining the vegetation surrounding the PES (potential explosive site) weed killing agents w/large amounts of _______ _________ should be avoided.

A

Oxidizing Compounds

ie. chlorates

23
Q

(PYRO) a posted symbol should be situated so it is visible during daylight from a distance of ________ feet.

A

500 feet

24
Q

(PYRO) Exit Doors

A

All exit doors shall be so marked and shall be unobstructed at all times.

  • exit doors in buildings containing explosives , except storage magazines, shall be:
    1) hollow metal doors
    2) 3ft. wide
    3) 6ft. 8in. high

25
Q

(NAVSEA OP 5) what is the most important factor in prevention of fire?

A

Cleanliness

26
Q

(NAVSEA OP 5) what storage code is used for pyro?

A

Group C (contains white phosphorous)

27
Q

(PYRO) how is the LOT # AMC 85 D 018 124 B read?

A

AMC 85 D 018 124 B

AMC = manufacturer

85 = year

D = month

018 = LOT index #

124 = LOT sequence #

B = ammunition LOT suffix

28
Q

Recovery of MK58 & MK25’s.

(CGTTP_3-30.2A_Ordnance_TTP) P.93

A
  • MK58’s & MK25’s contain phosphorous. When these items dry, any residual phosphorous ignites when exposed to air. Wet phosphorous is relatively stable, so keep the item wet.
  • Once recovered, keep the item outside and submerged in water until EOD can retrieve the item for disposal.
29
Q

(PYRO) Emergency Jettison at Sea

(CGTTP_3-30.2A_Ordnance_TTP) P.90

A
  • Jettison at least 12 nautical miles (NM) from land in water depth of 500 fathoms.
  • 1 Fathom = 6 feet(apprx. 1.8m)
30
Q

Pyrotechnic Storage

(CGTTP_3-30.2A_Ordnance_TTP) P.77

A
  • Because SAR vests and boat boxes carry pyrotechnic items, they tend to retain moisture. Wipe down or air-dry pyrotechnics before securing in a ready service locker or magazine. Lack of air movement in the RSL or magazine accelerates pyrotechnic deterioration. Never store pyrotechnics in berthing areas.
  • The Coast Guard follows the “first-in, first-out” policy for expending munitions items.
31
Q

(PYRO) Temperature Recording

(CGTTP_3-30.2A_Ordnance_TTP) P.77

A
  • The majority of munitions items in the naval inventory can withstand high temperatures in the range of 130 to 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Record in RED ink temperatures that exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
32
Q

(PYRO) Key and Lock Control

(Physical Security and Force Protection Program)

CIM_5530_1C P.65

A

When keys are not in use, they shall be secured in repository containers of at least 20-gauge steel or material of equivalent strength. Key repositories
shall be attached to the structure to prevent easy removal and located in buildings or rooms with structural features which forestall illegal entry. Key repositories shall be located so that they are under the surveillance of operating personnel during duty hours. During non-duty hours, the building shall be locked with both locksets and deadbolts of commercial grade. Deadbolts shall have a minimum of an one-inch throw.

33
Q

(PYRO) Access Control

(Physical Security and Force Protection Program)

CIM_5530_1C P. 85

A
  • Routine or unaccompanied access shall be limited to the least number of responsible persons designated by the commanding officer.

- (TQ)The names and positions of these persons shall be designated in writing by the commanding officer and posted inside the arms storage area.

34
Q

(PYRO) Levels of Threat

(Physical Security and Force Protection Program)

CIM_5530_1C P. 122

A
  1. Low
  2. Moderate
  3. Significant
  4. High
35
Q

(ORDNANCE TTP)

Ordnance Safety Inspection (OSI)

A
  • one month before inspection, units conduct self-assessment using current Ashore/Afoat OSI/OTI check sheet. Units submit their completed OSI self-assessment to the inspection team no less than 14 days before inspection team arrival.
  • Units must provide a letter within 60 days from the date on their OSI/OTI report to the inspection team’s command stating the status of corrections.
  • keep reports for 3 years.

Re-inspection:

re-inspecting units with major discrepancies is within 90 days to verify their compliance with standards.
