Pulmonary hypertension?
An increase in mean pulmonary arterial pressure which can be caused by or associated with a wide variety of other conditions.
Pulmonary hypertension causes?
Idiopathic, problems with branches of pulmonary arteries, left ventricular failure, lung disease, thrombosis/emboli in the lungs
Pulmonary hypertension epidemiology?
idiopathic cause is rare
Pulmonary hypertension signs (7)?
right ventricular heave, lound pulmonary second heart sound, murmur, tricuspid regurgitation, raised JVP, peripheral oedema, ascites.
Pulmonary hypertension investigations CXR?
to exclude other lung diseases
Pulmonary hypertension investigations ECG?
right ventricular hypertrophy and strain
Pulmonary hypertension investigations LFTs?
to assess liver damage and portal hypertension
