What type of environment do they prefer
A
these are ferns and horsetails which are two ancient phyla that can grow in a variety of habitats from shady and damp to bright and dry.

just like Bryophytes, they do not produce any fruits or seeds.

Why are these plants special

the first plants that evolved to successfully colonise dry land and therfore thefirst phyla that have true plant organs such as roots,stemsandleaves

What does each label do
A
- Theleaves of ferns consist of manyfronds connected to a leafblade. On each leaflet, there are small brown patches calledsori (singular:sorus) on the lower surface. The sori producespores that are released when mature.
- Rhizome,a horizontal underground plant system that facilitates root and stem growth.
- Theroot system is classified asadventitious– meaning the roots sprout directly from the rhizome.
