Intergroup contact:
Reducing prejudice by increasing direct contact between groups who are prejudiced against each other.
Extended Contact
sustained or ongoing contact either directly or indirectly over a period of time
Contact Hypothesis:
Proposes that certain types of direct contact between members of different groups can reduce prejudice
mutual interdependence
the two different groups must have contact that makes them dependent on each other
Superordinate goals
goal that cannot be achieved by one group alone overrides other existing goals
Equality of status
Each group must have the same level of power, influence and opportunity
Cognitive interventions
involves changing the way in which someone thinks about prejudice
