Social cognition:
how we think/use information to understand and make judgments about ourselves/others in social situations.
Person perception:
the mental processes we use to think about and evaluate other people
Physical Cues:
the way people look and the way they act.
Halo effect:
judging someone positively based on one, singular positive trait, making us assume that everything else about that person is also good
Reverse Halo Effect:
positive characteristic indicates the presence of negative characteristics.
Horn effect:
assumption that a negative characteristic indicates the presence of one or more other negative characteristics.
Body Language:
Information conveyed through non-verbal communication
Salience:
any personal characteristic that is distinctive, prominent, or noticeable in its context and therefore attracts attention
Social Categorisation:
classifying people into different groups on the basis of common characteristics.
