Q

What does CBT-E preparation involve?

A

Determining whether it is suitable for the patient at this specific time. This is because it is very intense and cognitively demanding, and some patients may not be at the stage to undergo such treatment. Thus, the need to avoid false starts is imperative. Need to explore potential barriers to engagement, such as cognitive inflexibility.

Q

What is interpersonal psychotherapy?

A

This is usually used as a maintainence treatment to prevent relapse. It aims to improve interpersonal functioning and resolve any current relationship crises. Uses communication analysis to look at specific incidents the patient has experienced and aims to help them tackle the situation differently using role play.
