Name and define the 5 types of ANXIETY DISORDERS
A
GENERALIZED ANXIETY DISORDER
anxious for no reason
PANIC ATTACK / DISORDER
constant and sudden worrying.
They may experience:
- chocking sensation
- vertigo
- extreme chest pains
- feeling like you are dying
PHOBIA
fear focused on situations, people, activities, etc. that’s irrational and exaggerated
OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER
- obsessions are thoughts that come into your conscious against your will and cause anxiety (common thoughts: violence or dirtiness)
- Obsession begets compulsive behavior a person uses to control the anxiety that comes from the obsession.
POST TRAUMATIC STRESS / SYNDROM DISORDER
- stress comes at any time after trauma. some symptoms:
- to concentrate, nightmares

Name the types of PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS
A
ORGANIC
Something is wrong with the physical brain (e.g. deteriorating brain cells). Some disorders are:
- turrete’s
- senile dementia
(no judgement, impulse control, confused, withdrawn, suspicious)
**FUNCTIONAL **
The brain is improperly functioning
- dilusional disorders (e.g. paranoia, psychosis)
- major mood disorders
- manic
- depression
SCHIZOPHRENIA
A complete break from reality; not interested activities
- disorganized (limited recovery)
very bizzare - catatonic
to overcome trauma, person feels he/she must stay in exact same position - paranoid (most common)
- undifferenciated
patient doesn’t fit into diorganized, catatonic, or paranoid categories. - residual
withdrawing after experiencing hallucinations and delusions have disappeared.

- too much dopamine = schitzo
- too little dopamine = parkinsons
(early trama develops schitsophrenia)
