What is conduct disorder?
- Cruelty to people and animals
- Destruction of property
- Deceitfulness or theft
- Serious violations of rules
* Diagnostic criteria present for 12
months
* Causes clinically significant impairment
* Childhood or adolescent onset
* Repetitive & persistent pattern
What is the management of OCD?
- CBT
- Exposure and response prevention - SSRIs
What is the treatment of Tourettes?
Psychoeducation
CBT
- Habit reversal therapy
Medication
- Haloperidol or risperidone
- Clonidine less effective
What is the criteria for diagnosing major depressive disorder?
- Persistent sad or irritable mood (2 weeks+)
- Loss of interest or enjoyment in activities
- and 4 of the following
– Difficulty sleeping or oversleeping
– Substantial change in appetite or body wt.
– Difficulty concentrating
– Loss of energy
– Psychomotor agitation or retardation
– Feeling worthless or inappropriate guilt
– Recurrent thoughts of suicide or death
What is the treatment for mild depression?
CBT
What is the treatment for moderate to severe depression?
SSRIs
What is the management of serotonin syndrome?
Benzodiazepine for agitation
Cyproheptadine
IV fluids
What is the criteria for mania?
Manic Episode
– Abnormally and persistently elevated, expansive or irritable mood > 1 week
– Inflated self esteem or grandiosity
– Increased Activity & Decreased need for sleep
– More talkative, or pressure to keep talking
– Flight of ideas/racing thoughts & Distractibility
– High risk behaviour/disinhibition
– Psychotic symptoms – grandiose/paranoid delusions

Definition of bipolar disorder?
- Definition:
‐ 1 or more Manic Episode
‐ +/‐ Depressive Episode(s)
‐ +/‐ Psychosis at extremes of mania and depression
