SSRI - most popular class of ADs w/ benign side effects Side effects: suicide, serotonin syndrome (fever, tachycardia, HTN, delirium)
Lithium
Tx: mania (BP1)
Chlorpromazine
*1st antipsychotic, aka Thorazine
Mechanism: D2 antagonist
ROS: improves positive sx
Side effects: tardive dyskinesia
Haloperidol
Aka “Haldol”
Mechanism: D2 antagonist
ROS: improve positive sx
SE: extrapyramidal syndrome (EPS) due to nigrostriatal DA2 blockade
Clozaril
*atypical antipsychotic, aka “Clozapine”
Mechanism: D2, D3, D4 and 5-HT antagonist
ROS: improves + and - symptoms
SE: lower risk of EPS, increased risk of DM2
Olanzapine
*atypical antipsychotic, aka “Zyprexa”
Mechanism: D2, D3, D4 and 5-HT antagonist
ROS: improves + and - symptoms
SE: decreased risk of EPS, increased risk of DM2
Risperidone
*atypical antipsychotic, aka “Risperdal”
Mechanism: D2, D3, D4 and 5-HT antagonist
ROS: improves + and - symptoms
SE: decreased risk of EPS, increased risk of DM2
