COWL ANTI-ICE Conditons
- Icing conditions exist when the OAT (on the ground and for takeoff) or TAT (inflight) is 10c or below, and;
- Visible moisture in any form is present in flight or below 400’ AGL for ground operations
- When operating on surfaces that are wet or contaminated
WING ANTI-ICE Conditions
- Icing conditions exist when the OAT (for takeoff) is 5c or TAT (inflight) is 10c or below, and;
- Visible moisture in any form is present in flight or below 400’ AGL for ground operations
- Runway surfaces are wet or contaminated
Tactile check
- OAT 5c or less
- Wing fuel temp 0c or less
- Atmospheric conditions conducive to frost formation
- Ice and frost may contine to adhere to wing surfaces even at temps above 5c
Cowl Anti-ice system
Cowl anti-ice must be on for all ground and flight ops when icing conditions exist except when
• Inflight SAT is -40 or below or
• Ice is annunciated
Wing Anti-Ice System
Wing anti-ice must be ON for T/O and flight ops when
• Icing conditions exist and airspeed less than 230 KIAS
• ICE is annunciated by the ice detection system
• Except when inflight SAT is -40c or less
When must the wing anti-ice be turned on
2 minutes prior to T/O during all ground ops 5c OAT or below unless type III or type IV anti-icing fluid has been applied
